Earth Day

Earth Day

Sunday 10 am to 4 pm

Join us for a day of climate action to kick off San Francisco Climate Week and celebrate Earth Day! On April 21st, stop by REAP Climate Center (a climate workforce non-profit located in Alameda) to get your hands dirty supporting our local plants and pollinators.

Volunteers will help support our campus’ plant life and pollinators by weeding, trimming, and amending soils. Our soil expert will guide you through a hands-on experience of regenerative soil practice. There will also be opportunities to support local pollinator habitats and provide structural support for on-campus trees.

We will be offering two sessions to registrants and a community hour in between. Everyone is invited to the community hour, and to participate in either the morning or the afternoon volunteer sessions. Registration for this event is required, though registration will be available on the day of the event. Registration can be found here: Earth Day Volunteer Day at REAP Climate Center · Luma

The event schedule will be as follows. More detailed information will be sent to participants prior to the event.

10:00am - 12:30pm: Morning Volunteer Session

12:30pm - 1:30pm: Community Potluck* and Social Hour

1:30pm - 4:00pm: Afternoon Volunteer Session

REAP Climate Center is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering people to do nature-positive work at scale. We support scalable nature-positive solutions to mitigate climate change and benefit communities and ecosystems. Our programs span the arc from play and discovery to certification and job placement. Come volunteer with us to support our ambitious mission, enjoy time with the climate community, and make a meaningful impact.

Our WAIVER is required for all participants, and will be checked at the start of the event.

For more information about REAP Climate Center, please visit our website at www.reapcenter.org.

*Details about potluck will be shared with participants prior to the event!

By registering for this event, you agree to share your registration information with the organizers of SF Climate Week.

Hope to see you here and learn together!

Volunteer Day & Open House

Regular Open House & Volunteer Days

Wednesdays 2 pm to sunset & Sundays 10 am to sunset.

Please come for as long or as little as you like. Even a quick hello is okay with no need to RSVP. About a week before, we ‘try’ to update this post with the list of projects that may be featured that day. However, there are always all sorts of fun things to do. Please read through our volunteer page, if you haven't already, it'll answer a lot of general questions. There's always a large variety of different projects taking place at any one given time, but generally we try to fit people where they feel most empowered.

Here is a brief overview of activities available. From gardening to making soil, crafting to lite construction, tinkering to engineering.

Generally, there are four types of activities:

1) Ecological Light - watering, planting, trimming, spreading wood chips, working with sheep or chickens, general beautification
2) Ecological Heavy - habitat restoration, tree planting, turning compost
3) Building Light - building benches, fixing fences, signage, general beautification
4) Building Heavy - building structures, installing fences & gates, putting up solar, erecting art & sculpture

One thing we ask prior to visiting is filling out our WAIVER.

Hope to see you here and learn together!
