Mission

Our mission is to increase access to climate change mitigation by providing ecological experiences and climate job pathways.

REAP’s Approach

Perspective

When articulating REAP’s program strategy, a trend emerges that aligns at a high level with social, racial and environmental justice movements—intersectional, interconnected, multidisciplinary, and blended approaches. We believe in designing processes that can reshape systems in harmony with nature. From the nesting of our programs to the roll-up of our impact categories into success metrics, a systems approach emerges as a critical path for systems change.

Horizontal Action

"Horizontal Action" is boots on the ground. It is grass-roots, local climate action, and community resilience. This work covers a broad range of communities and ecological needs - from urban forestry to bee husbandry, from the Wild Oyster Project to our own half-mile-long regenerative science and training center.

REAP Climate Center provides a home for other organizations working within the context of our mission. We give them space and support their efforts ecologically, socially, and measurably. This is the work on the ground and in the community, deploying nature-based solutions.

Vertical Integration

All we do takes place in the context of systems change and measured planetary impact. We work within global frameworks for climate, from biodiversity conservation and growth to measurable carbon capture.

For maximum impact, relevance, and funding, we want our collective community efforts to integrate into initiatives like the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, and corporate accountability metrics for Environmental, Social, Governance, as well as the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, and the Task Force on Nature-Related Disclosures.

REAP’s Vision Document

A long narrative vision statement. We like to joke that it is a manifesto disguised as a white paper. Ultimately, it is the most comprehensive vision overview and operational strategy we have shared to date. An audio file is also linked if you prefer to listen.

MAXIMUM IMPACT GOAL

Looking to the future, by opening at least one REAP Climate Center in every state or supporting other existing organizations, we can affect change at scale as regional hubs for training and distributing resources.
