The Microbe Mine is an interactive space to get your hands dirty in some soil and learn about the benefit soil brings to our earth!
We have the power to make a difference—one microbe at a time.
At Microbe Mine, you'll embark on a journey of discovery as you engage in a range of interactive activities designed to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for sustainability. Some interactive activities might include creating enclosed terrariums, where you'll construct your miniature ecosystem, fostering an appreciation for the delicate balance that exists within nature. There is also room to explore the captivating realm of Winogradsky Columns, displaying the vibrant microcosms that thrive within these unique structures, while simultaneously gaining insight into the essential processes that drive soil health.
Through hands-on experiences that blend science and exploration, we aim to cultivate a deeper understanding of soil's role in nurturing life and supporting biodiversity. Our mission is to inspire a generation of environmentally-conscious individuals who appreciate the intricate web of life beneath our feet.
The Microbiome Mine not only establishes an understanding of soil science, but develops essential skills in observation, problem solving, and critical thinking. By sowing the seeds of environmental stewardship, we are nurturing a workforce that is primed to address the pressing challenges of our time and lead the way towards a greener and more sustainable future. Through this, nature becomes both our classroom and our catalyst for positive change.
